MTA WHITE
- Best: Yes
Description
MTA WHITE (produced by Produits Dentaires) is an endodontic repair cement composed of fine, mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) bioceramic particles. When mixed with purified water, it sets into a bio-interactive hydraulic calcium silicate gel that aids in tissue regeneration, hard-tissue barrier formation, and sealing during endodontic procedures.
Kit Contents
Powder: Pre-measured MTA powder sachets/capsules or multi-dose glass vials.
Liquid: Purified water ampoules for mixing.
Accessories: Mixing pad and spatula.
Key Clinical Indications
Root-end filling (retrograde obturation) during endodontic microsurgery.
Repair of root perforations (iatrogenic or resorptive lesions).
Direct pulp capping and partial pulpotomy in vital pulp therapy.
Apexification and creation of apical vascularization/revascularization plugs.
Internal and external root resorption repair.
Features & Performance
High Biocompatibility & Bioactivity: Releases calcium ions ($\text{Ca}^{2+}$) to promote cell proliferation, osteogenesis, and cementogenesis while creating a favorable environment for bone healing.
Aesthetic Formula (White MTA): Formulated without iron compounds to minimize post-treatment discoloration of tooth enamel, making it suitable for anterior restorations.
Hydraulic Setting Mechanism: Sets reliably in moist clinical environments without compromising bond strength or structural integrity.
Microleakage Defense: Undergoes slight expansion during setting to form a tight, impermeable seal against bacteria and periapical fluids.
Radiopaque: High radiopacity for precise assessment on diagnostic radiographs.
Clinical Working Protocol
Dispense 1 unit of MTA White powder onto a glass slab or mixing pad.
Add purified water and mix thoroughly for 30 to 60 seconds until a putty-like, moist sand consistency is achieved.
Carry the material into the target area using an MTA carrier or plugger instrument.
Condense gently and cover with a moist cotton pellet prior to placing provisional or final restorations.
