Key Details & Indications

Indications: A mild antiseptic used topically on the skin to prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes, and burns. It can also be used as a mouth rinse (diluted) to help remove mucus or relieve minor mouth irritations like canker sores, cold sores, or gingivitis.

Mechanism of Action: Works by releasing oxygen when applied to tissues, creating a foaming effect that helps mechanically clean the area and remove dead skin, while providing antibacterial and antiviral activity.

Limitations: Should not be used to treat deep wounds, animal bites, or serious burns.

Dosage & Administration

For Skin Use: Clean the affected area first. Apply a small amount 1 to 3 times daily (or as directed by a doctor). Let the area dry before applying a bandage.

As a Mouth Rinse: Mix with an equal amount of water, swish over the affected area for at least 1 minute, then spit out. Do not swallow. Can be used up to 4 times daily. Consult a doctor if conditions do not improve within 7 days.

Important Precautions & Side Effects

Contraindications: Do not inject or instill into closed body cavities. Avoid contact with the eyes or application over large areas of skin.

Side Effects: Strong solutions can cause irritating burns on the skin and mucous membranes. Prolonged use as a mouthwash can cause reversible hypertrophy of tongue papillae.

Storage: Store at 15°C–30°C.
