PD Devitec (Pulp Devitalizing Paste) is an arsenic-free endodontic paste used in dentistry to devitalize (kill) the dental pulp prior to root canal extirpation, especially when immediate anesthesia is ineffective or contra-indicated.

Key Characteristics & Composition

Arsenic-Free Formulation: Formulated without arsenic, making it safer for surrounding tissues compared to traditional devitalizers while reducing the risk of tissue necrosis.

Active Ingredients: Contains Polyoxymethylene (a coagulant that acts on albumin to give the pulp tissue a firm consistency for easier extraction) and Lidocaine Hydrochloride (a local anesthetic to manage pain during the devitalizing process).

Pain Reduction: Works gradually to relieve acute pain caused by pulpitis by mummifying the nerve tissue.

Presentation: Typically available in a 6 g jar or a syringe for precise placement directly onto the exposed pulp chamber.
